Tyler Ballon (b. 1996) was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. Tyler began drawing when he was four years old but he was inspired by his grandmother to pursue art. She saw his potential. Tyler attended the Jersey City Arts Program in high school and graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2018 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Tyler is inspired by the lives and narratives of people of color and seeks to showcase their humanity through his work. He emphasizes love and spirituality as a path to advancement. Tyler focuses on painting people of color and adding them into the pantheon of historical figurative portraiture.
